Earth’s eco system is under stress throughout our planet. Three important points:

Earth is the only planet we have for living.
We are instrumental in putting our eco-system under strain.
We are the only hope to set it right.

This story keeps our hope alive & inspires us to do whatever we can in our own spheres to correct what we have spoiled.

The idea of creating new ecosystems around native trees sparked an interest in Malad-based businessman Vikas Mahajan several years ago.

Shop floor Leadership Programme (SLP)

First line supervision is a critical link for ensuring efficient business operations.

It is at this level that targets, method improvements & cost improvements are implemented. Unfortunately building capabilities at this crucial level is often lost sight of or, ignored. This in turn creates weak links that act as obstacles to daily target achievement and improvement initiatives. Shop floor Leadership Programme (SLP) aims at building leadership skills for shop floor leaders at operating & middle level.

What is Cost of Quality?

A young engineer raised one question in the departmental quality meeting.

“We have high number of rejections at one of our assembly processes. These are easily detected & segregated. We also know the countermeasure for effective removal of the defect. But the cost of countermeasure can only be recovered over five years. Should we implement the countermeasure or, continue with the segregation?”

What is Departmental Purpose Analysis?

One of the most important aspects of business is customer orientation. That is why it is also the foundation of TQM implementation in an organisation.

The focus on internal customer supplier relationship drives the efficiency in multi-disciplinary processes.

In line operations customer supplier relationships are fairly visible. However, in case of service or, support functions it is not so straightforward.

Thus comes the necessity of using a method to understand, analyse and manage these interactions. Departmental Purpose Analysis (DPA) is such a tool.

Used correctly, DPA can throw up amazing benefits for your organisation.

Engineering student’s dilemma

Abhimanyu in Chkravyuh – 5 Gaps

The business environment in India is changing. The changed environment requires varied skills & attitudes from new entrants to industry. Every engineering student’s dilemma is like Abhimanu in Chakravuh.

Every industry craves for prospective job seekers to have (in addition to the subject knowledge) a fair idea of the challenges faced by an industry and the way modern manufacturing practices like Lean, TQM etc address these challenges.

Young engineers coming out of academics & aspiring to join the industry are at a disadvantage with respect to knowledge of modern work practices. This is every engineering student’s dilemma.
